You can view the database in several different ways

The Species Overview gives

latin name, description, min temp,  max height, growth rate and whether the plant is available (if not, a due date if known) 

The Features view gives indicators for the following features:

flowering variety (showy flowers), special foliage, specimen tree, aromatic, firewood variety, ornamental bark,suitable for pots or containers, use for hedging or creating a green screen 

The Conditions Tolerated view identifies those plants which will tolerate:

chalk, exposed site, salt, drought, shade, waterlogging or boggy conditions
